In 1962 Vaughn Meader crafted a flawless comic impression of John F. Kennedy and became an overnight sensation.  One year later, Kennedy was dead, Meader’s Comedy career had collapsed and a disturbing new character was about to emerge.

Drawing upon Meader’s historic trauma and the polarizing politics of the 2004 election, First Impersonator is the story of timing and circumstance, of mass politics and personal obsession, of one impersonator’s career decided by a general election and another’s haunted by the memory of a dead president.
